The operation of the two-wire system is based on bi-directional serial data transfer between the two units. The position of the rotary switch is transferred to the other unit.
The actual position of the rotary switch is indicated by an LED, which continuously shows the status. The data received is compared with the position of the rotary switch. If the two units do not have the same position the LED of the new position flashes and at the same time a relay contact starts switching and/or an acoustic alarm is activated. By turning the rotary switch to the position indicated by the blinking LED the new position is accepted and the LED indicates a normal position by lighting continuously
The LED intensity can be adjusted although the LED always blinks at high intensity when indicating that operator action is required. The system is self-controlling as the transmitting unit generates data continuously regardless of the position of the rotary switch.
