With the Bow Thruster Controller, BTC-1 for short, it is possible to control the power delivered to the bow thruster, smoothly without steps. The BTC-1 works in combination with a frequency converter, which is often installed in the engine room or elsewhere in the ship. The BTC-1 is, preferably built into the bridge console and where relevant into the bridge bow consoles.

When using several BTC-1s, it is possible to transfer control between them without stopping the bow thruster. In this type of application only one of the BTC-1s is connected to the frequency converter, while the other BTC-1s are connected to each other in parallel. An associated advantage is that only a single 24 VDC power supply is needed.

Fabricated with high quality components, the BTC-1 is suitable for use in extreme conditions, where rain, seawater and bright sunshine are the norm. The latter is possible because of the use of high intensity LEDs for the user interface.

In the standard BTC-1 the power consumption is shown using a bank of LEDs. The consumption is shown in 10% steps up to 120%.
